Artist AND Educator

ABOUT

Louise Harman is an artist and educator deeply invested in nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and social impact. With a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) specialising in Creative Arts Education, Louise brings a distinctive approach to teaching and learning.

Rooted in a Bachelor of Arts in Photography (theory and practice) from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) and further enriched by a Master of Arts in Literature and Philosophy from the University of Sussex, Louise's academic journey embodies a combination of art, literature, and education. She believes in and is an advocate of the transformative potential of interdisciplinary learning.

Beyond education, Louise has worked in the arts and humanities as a freelancer in publishing and as a producer and public speaker, including co-curating the Sussex Death Festival. Louise has actively contributed to social impact initiatives and worked closely with charities to support their causes. With a focus on fostering a deeper appreciation for the arts and humanities and how they can intersect with business and innovation,  Louise endeavours to inspire curiosity, provoke thought, and effect positive change in both individuals and organisations alike.

Louise has previously taught at the University for the Creative Arts, Film, Media and Business at ISC, University of Sussex and University of Leeds. She currently works within the Careers and Entrepreneurship team at the University of Sussex.

Louise approached me to discuss using some of my work in a Phaidon publication ‘A Smile in the Mind’. Louise was a pleasure to work with, a really good communicator, and judging by the content of the book a great art and design researcher too.

Working with Louise was inspiring, refreshing and exciting. Having clear guidance as well as space for my own personal research resulted in a successful collaboration that I thoroughly enjoyed.
